CCRS regrets to share the news that one of our beloved founders, Ruby Kewley passed away this past weekend. Her memorial service information is as follows: Saturday, August 21 @ 10:00 a.m. First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside,  2001 S. El Camino Real,  Oceanside, CA 92054

Ruby Cecelia Kewley passed away peacefully on Saturday August 14, 2010 at the age of 79 (39 & holding). She was born May 6, 1931 in London, England.

Ruby left England in her late twenties to start a new life & ended up in Hollywood, CA. During this time, she met her husband Ralph. She had one child, her son Raymond Kewley. Her husband Ralph passed away after nine years of marriage due to an illness. Ruby never re-married but decided to move to Carlsbad, CA to start a life for her and her son.

Ruby spent 30 years in the banking industry. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, eating out, attending plays and musicals, playing cards with friends & spending time with family.

Ruby was an avid gardener & loved roses. Ruby was one of the original founding members of the California Coastal Rose Society. Ruby loved to help people & volunteer her time to teach others about roses. Her beautiful English accent sounded like music when she expressed her love for roses.

Ruby is survived by her son Raymond Kewley & granddaughters Miranda & Kaitlyn Kewley.

Ruby Kewley - Original Founding member of California Coastal Rose Society. Ruby Kewleys eyes sparkle when she describes the "old days" at CCRS.  Ruby recalls the day a hand full of members followed Grace and Slim Grider and began a new rose club in 1988.  Their love and enthusiam for roses united the core group which began California Coastal Rose Society.  All of us who know Ruby appreciate her helpful nature and organization.  No leaf goes unturned!  Her beautiful English accent sounds like music while she expresses her love for roses.  On the eve of Joel Ross's Bronze Medal presentation, Ruby said "I just love the people here..."  We love you too Ruby.
